He’s Alive!

And I’m so glad about it!

This morning, at the Easter sunrise service at my parents’ new house, I will sing and play guitar.

I have never, ever played the guitar in public.  Not even in my mom’s garage.  Not even at 6 a.m.  Not even in 32° spring weather.

But my little homeschooling brood and I have been taking guitar lessons from a pair of delightful old honkey-tonkers named Will and Carol, and so I suppose it’s now or never.  Time to get my rock star on.  (Don’t tell Will and Carol I’m only gonna play every fourth note!)

I went to bed at 1 a.m. this morning after Beau and I returned home from a late-in-the-game trip to Walmart to pick up Cadbury Creme Eggs.

And other Easter supplies.

But really, what else is there besides Cadbury Creme Eggs?

While we were in the big city, Beau took me by Old Navy to skim their selection, because 4-year-old Emilyn recently informed me that my standby Easter dress is no longer acceptable.  At the store I tried on approximately 10 dresses and 15 shirts, and I can begrudgingly report that that old adage my mother first spoke of me when I was a teenager still rings true:

Tam, they just don’t make clothes for girls like you.

And while we’re on the subject of clothing, don’t you find that everything available these days is so flimsy?  A gal has to layer on three shirts to achieve the coverage that one single shirt should provide.  But you can bet your bottom dollar they charge you separately for all three!

Sheesh!

And when I think

That God His Son not sparing

Sent Him to die

I scarce can take it in

That on the cross

My burdens gladly bearing

He bled and died

To take away my sin

Name that song!  One more try:

When Christ shall come

With shout of acclamation

And take me home

What joy shall fill my heart

Then I shall bow

In humble adoration

And then proclaim:

“My God, how great Thou art!”

He is risen indeed.
